just

...you don’t notice that it stays with you
gave you pause,  lingered
perhaps then mentioned in conversation
later that day, and you wonder

if other people feel that way too and
you ask someone else
they find out it is the same for them

these are just average people of the everyday
not politicians versed or money made
but people who work and live and die
in the name of this glorious glorious glorious

all us other people
not the ‘zero point however too few percent’
actually own and run this world
but those people who people her bounds
we

we the people of l’etats unis por ejemplo
who rest proud upon colossal laurels
(and thank our lucky stars)
are sitting in an empire
and need some time in front of the mirror
but who am i to talk?

i mean, don’t you wonder though?
what goes on in the backrooms
trickle drip down to the backalleys…
but perhaps that’s too much political
for a poem

poems are supposed to be wrought
finely painted eggshells
you don’t walk on
you just tiptoe around

no, poems are the aroma of the family's food
the blood of a heartbreak from a great height
the chant of a people who care for truth
poems are not
up for grabs

the fact that you are reading this right now
is a slight change in everything

and this is just
a poem
