Shoja Adel

50 years old

I am an American-Iranian.
I like mystic poetry and I coordinate poetry and book exhibits in Persian community.
The latest exhibit "Poetry That is Life" was in Mehregan Persian Harvest festival in October 2003.
The exhibit was dedicated to two modern Persian poets of Iran, Forugh Farrokhzad and Sohrab Sepehri.

Fallen

How many more must we lose?
Asked the mother
He was bringing sunshine in the room
He was able to turn a bad day to a nice one, just by being there
Father said, hiding his sorrow in his chest, keeping his chin high with pride
He knew what he was doing, but without the knowledge of reality
Father added staring at empty chair on his side
Have we been deceived and lied to while the best is paying the price?
How many more must we lose?
Asked the mother

Who stole my sorrow

Who saw my tears
That I’d never shed before
Who stole my sorrow in the bottom of my heart,
When I saw the twins were tumbling

Now I am standing on the wall
I missed Jennifer’s first walk

Sands find their way to my eyes
I see Ahmad is coming
I like his piercing dark eyes
How he plays soccer with other boys
I wish I could teach him to play football
He is not smiling today

Why is his shirt bulging?

Wait
Stop
Stop
